An international view – MOOD STOCKHOLM GRAND OPENINGDigital Editor
I have loved working on the MOOD Stockholm opening. Its been an exciting and interesting project to work on as its such a ground-breaking scheme that has received a lot of attention internationally and been headed by the very passionate visionary behind the development Karolin Forsling. Being in Stockholm the days leading into the scheme opening was amazing and strange at the same time. For months we have been speaking to journalists about how unique MOOD Stockholm would be, and that it was inspired by airport and hotel lounges rather than traditional shopping centres. Describing a scheme that would have rentable tree houses, floors that look like the street pavement outside, a concierge service where you can arrange for a dog sitter for your dog. It was surreal to see all final puzzle pieces falling into place. The umbrella street was my favourite element – wonderful!
A few days before opening my colleagues from Innesco joined to help in the busy run up to the opening. We gathered in one of the meeting rooms at MOOD Stockholm project offices – with our laptops, coffees and team spirit – we had a temporary Innesco office in Stockholm.
The day before the grand opening our international journalist arrived. For me this was the most exciting time. After speaking to them via email/phone for many months telling them how the scheme progressed it was so exciting to actually meet them in Stockholm and show them around the finished centre. I don’t think that any of them really could imagine how the end result would look – everyone seemed genuinely amazed – it was a great moment. The detail in the scheme I think stood out the most – and it really was a hit.
The Grand Opening to the public on the 22nd March was a real success. Demand for tickets was so high that they ran out. On the day people were queuing to get into the shopping centre – how often does that happen? MOOD!!! Stockholm was ready for MOOD and was buzzing with people, the restaurants and retailers were extremely busy and it was great to be there on this important day together with the Innesco team. A career highlight so far!
