A/W 2013 – UK retailers to set the trend in ParisDigital Manager
After Primark, another emblematic British fashion brand is coming to France, Topshop is next in line, opening its first permanent corner in Parisian department store Galeries Lafayette, on the 10th October 2013.
If until now, Topshop was only available to Parisian fashion fans through the online store, but they will now be able to enjoy the fashion brand’s in-store experience and get their hands on the new collection without clicking a mouse or crossing the Channel.
The brand will take 176 sq.m on the second floor of Galeries Lafayette. This space is five times bigger than its pop-up corner store opened in February.
With a big presence in the UK (300 stores), Topshop is now looking to expand internationally where it currently has 100 stores. It is said that the brand is also seeking a site to open a dedicated Parisian store.
Coincidence (or not!), in the middle of this ‘Best of British fever’, Printemps, the other big Parisian department store, next door to Galeries Lafayette, is hosting its ‘London Mania’ event for a month starting on the 22nd August. The event will feature a Burberry pop-up store, Burberry exclusive collection and British Fashion Council exclusive sweatshirts.
With so many British retailers heading to France to capitalise on the continued global success of the country’s international brand and reputation, I believe French tourists to the UK are now left shopping for the latest Prince George merchandising to bring back home replacing bounties of the latest UK fashion.
