Completely Retail Marketplace returns with a bangOwen Mitchell
On Tuesday, the Innesco team embraced the return of in-person events at Completely Retail Marketplace London, alongside a diverse array of property agents, landlords, and retail and leisure brands to discuss the market and showcase the many opportunities for new space.
This year’s event, organised in collaboration with Revo, was the largest since Completely Retail Marketplace started in 2012, with over 2,000 visitors and 100 exhibitors from across the UK retail property sector in attendance. The atmosphere in the exhibition hall was electric from the get-go, with the event enlivened by the launch of new features like ‘Ask the Expert’ which saw the organisers team up with SaveTheHighStreet.org to provide free 1-2-1 business growth advice for local brands. Rows of stands awash with meetings would have been a refreshing sight to the harshest of sceptics about the future of retail, indicating there is real life in the current leasing market; a sign of good things to come for UK retail property.
Supplementing activities in the exhibition area, the one-day event featured a half-day conference programme by Revo, including a keynote from entrepreneur and Dragon’s Den star, Theo Paphitis. He was joined by Richard Morris, UK Chief Executive of IWG, who discussed the return to the office, and the role of flexible workspace alongside retail in dynamic town and city centres. With the conference hall packed to the rafters, the enthusiasm amongst businesses and individuals to learn, adapt and thrive as the sector rebounds post-Covid-19 was palpable.
There was also flurry of activity around the Innesco stand all day as we asked our friends and peers the question “What will shake up the industry next?”, receiving a broad range of answers from “data driven leasing deals”, to “the costs of going green” and “turnover rents”. You can see all the answers in our wrap-up video HERE.
Congratulations to Dom Millar and the whole of the Completely Retail team on such a fantastic event. The day certainly reflected a renewed confidence in physical business events, and it was brilliant to see so many familiar faces once again. We will see you all again soon!
