Day 3 at MIPIM 2016Digital Editor
Happy St Patrick’s day to all, the sun is poking through the clouds and we are all hoping that normal sunny Mediterranean weather may resume.
Today started bright and early with the Movers and Shakers Breakfast and panel chaired by JLL CEO Guy Granger. JLL presented the UK Cities-Growth and Investment Report with London playing a pivotal role in this and the New West End Company was of course in attendance. Sir Edward Lister also made up some of the panel alongside representatives from Birmingham city Council, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council, Edinburgh City Council and UK Trades and Investments. Quite the dynamic panel.
For London the key topics were Crossrail, air quality and unsurprisingly after the 2016 Budget announcement, business rates.
The Business Rates reform, the panel agreed will prove a real catalyst for Business Improvement Districts in the future. Great news for New West End Company. It appears that London and the West End is one of the cities to invest in for “less risk and more reward”!
Clivedale continued its presence at MIPIM demonstrating their £1bn pipeline of exclusively W1 developments around the London Stand.
They have taken this week to meet with possible future top partners for future developments in the capital’s finest residencies. Clivedale’s projects look to define the most prestigious postcodes within the capital such as JLL’s former HQ at Hannover Square.
Nakheel continued to turn heads with their impressive stand. The brightly lit Palm Jumeirah model and surrounding cgi fly by images definitely proving a hit. There is a feeling of excitement around the future proposed projects across 3 Asian countries that was announced to the press on Tuesday.
Innesco sponsored the Cheltenham Festival being screened at Morrisons Irish Pub, possibly the number 1 Irish bar in Cannes. This was hosted by the Estates Gazette magazine and was in support of LandAid.
In the Ryan Air steeple chase was won by Vautour and in the Ryan Air world hurdle Thistlecrack took the 1st prize. Yet we were all winners here with an afternoon of racing and Cannes finest Guinness. A great event all round and hopefully a large amount of money raised for some really good causes as a result!
The MIPIM Awards! Whilst some of our favorite nominees may not have picked up the prize Crossrail won the Best Urban Regeneration Project. Great news for London and the West End!
And so ends day 3 and Innesco’s time at MIPIM this year. We’ve had some laughs, caught some sunshine, some rain and our clients have kept us very busy. Roll on MAPIC, you’re not as far away as we think.
So as we wave goodbye to the South of France and head home with pockets full of new business cards. That’s all folks, bye for now MIPIM.
