Fashion for thought

As anyone who works in a creative environment knows, the best of us will hit that wall. The unmountable hurdle that will raise its ugly head just when you need it the least. Deadline is looming, the team is counting on you and the creative juices just wont flow. Check mate. This is the moment when you need to down tools, step out of the door and find some food for thought. Luckily, working at Innesco, I needn’t tread far. Spitialfield’s market is on Innesco’s doorstep and if you are ever in need of a little retail inspiration, it is impossible to walk away unrefreshed and lacking the motivation to attack your notepad with a whole host of new ideas. Walking around the market, you are assaulted with a rainbow of colours and textures, from contemporary design, right through to the vintage and alternative. Fashion is a tool, that can transport you back in time or inspire you to look at something from an entirely new perspective. Of course you can walk into a museum or gallery but can you walk home wearing the merchandise? Shape, style, appearance, material, structure, age, pattern, colour, fashion is new and old, orthodox and alternative. As Coco Chanel is famously quoted: “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky; in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” and that is exactly why when you hit that brick wall, don’t waste time beating it, simply open the door and go find your own fashion for thought.   Rebecca Horne, Account Executive
