Major international leasing deals bring more premium brands to Gunwharf Quays, PortsmouthDigital Editor
Gunwharf Quays [client], the UK’s leading premium retail outlet, has signed two major international fashion brands, Michael Kors and Hackett London, as well significantly upsizing Polo Ralph Lauren, becoming one of the largest standalone outlet stores for the brand in Europe. The new lettings total more than 23,348 sq ft (2,169 sq m) retail space, and strengthen the premium retail offer at the Land Securities’ asset located on the south coast in Portsmouth.
Global luxury lifestyle brand Michael Kors is to take a 3,669 sq ft (341 sq m) unit for its fourth outlet store in the UK. The American brand will present its range of womenswear and menswear, shoes, fragrances, cosmetics and accessories. The store, set to open on 3rd September, will be located at the centre of Gunwharf Quays, opposite Ted Baker.
Polo Ralph Lauren unveiled its new, larger store on 13th August. Following popular demand, and queues of customers into its original unit, Polo Ralph Lauren has more than doubled the size of its previous unit, moving from 6,000 sq ft (560 sq m) to 16,739 sq ft (1,555 sq m). The new store features the brand’s timeless collections for men, women and children.
The new Polo Ralph Lauren outlet store is close neighbours to the recent arrival of British luxury menswear brand Hackett London, which opened its doors on 21st July. Hackett’s new 2,940 sq ft (270 sq m) store marks the brand’s first outlet in South East England.
Jeremy Hackett, Chairman of Hackett London, commented, “Gunwharf Quays’ universal appeal to a burgeoning number of tourists and a unique, curated mix of brands highlights the desire for the Hackett brand to open a store. We are extremely excited to offer our luxury ranges of men’s formal and casualwear to such a large and enthusiastic catchment.”
Jack Busby, Portfolio Director at Land Securities, added, “The addition of such prestigious brands as Michael Kors and Hackett reinforces Gunwharf Quays’ status as the leading premium retail outlet in the UK, whilst Polo Ralph Lauren’s major upsizing is a huge demonstration of our consumer pull and attraction here. These new tenants represent a significant investment from some of the world’s top premium brands to be part of a hugely successful, forward-thinking outlet.”
These new tenants join a long and enviable list of local and international premium fashion brands at Gunwharf Quays, including Hugo Boss, Paul Smith, Tommy Hilfiger, Jaeger, Swarovski, Diesel, Joules, All Saints, Ugg, Radley, Lacoste, and Links of London.
KLM and Head Retail acted for Gunwharf Quays. Michael Horwitz & Co represented Hackett London and Harper Dennis Hobbs represented Polo Ralph Lauren.
