MAPIC 2012: The year of the outlet?Digital Manager
MAPIC 2012 has proved very impressive. The level of investment in the market is evident in the number of stands, attendees and yachts here in Cannes. It just proves our industry has room for growth particularly within the European continent.
What MAPIC delivers in abundance is a view of the entire European market, rather than a UK-centric one. The number of Central and Eastern European exhibitors is astonishing – particularly the number of European Outlets that are being launched, leased, extended and developed.
This year’s MAPIC really seems to be the year of the outlet.
One exciting project we saw was Scalo Milano – a designer outlet close to Milan centre, which was launched this week at MAPIC. The catchment is large and appealing to many occupiers and it is minutes from the centre of one of the most fashionable cities in the world, so it is sure to attract attention.
Today, we spent our morning seeking out giants in the retail property industry across Europe, asking them for the three words that summed up MAPIC for them.
I think my three words are: dynamic, busy and buzzing!
