Christmas Reflections
#Week51 was the last working week before Christmas, and for most people saw a familiar mix of frantic activity to get the last bits and pieces done before the year end, alongside some welcome seasonal meet-ups and the chance to catch breath before it all kicks off again in January.
From the hyper-local to the geopolitical, 2023 has been all about unexpected events, the headwinds they have created and the progress made in addressing them. Very few people would claim it has been an easy 12 months for the real estate sector, but it can also be said to have been a year when, sometimes against the odds, the industry has met its issues head on.
The sector’s traditional strengths – rolling with the punches, swooping to capitalise on opportunities when they appear, an incredible tendency towards optimism – continue to stand it in good stead, and at a macro level the economic news at year end is somewhat more positive than it was at the start. With inflation in November falling to 3.9% – in the realms of ‘normal’, and nearly two thirds down on the level seen a year before – we can perhaps start to see a world where falling interest rates both boost consumer spending and provide some relief to those that need to refinance.
In similar fashion, when the Innesco team looks back on 2023, it is the challenges overcome and results secured in difficult circumstances that have brought us the most satisfaction. From game-changing coverage to fleet-footed event support, our work was most enjoyable when it made a real difference, and doubly so when we knew that strategic successes depended on our input.
The number of clients and projects that we are proud to have worked with is too long to single out particular ones here, but we are of course especially thankful to all for giving us the opportunity to show how good we are and make a real difference to their businesses. We genuinely enjoy working with all of you, and can’t wait to see what the next year holds.
