The Sceptres sparkle into 2012

The Sceptre Awards in June are always a highlight in my calendar.  Of course every woman loves a bit of glitz and glamour topped with champagne, but it’s more than that.  The ballroom in the Dorchester is a lovely change from the grand hall, the crowd is always an eclectic mix of varying specialties within the sector, and the entertainment is bang on!

This year’s event was no exception with Miles Jupp, a well-known comedian, taking to the stage for the second year running. He didn’t disappoint with his humorous ridicule of his own posh accent, quotes about his ‘love’ (with plenty of sarcasm for comedic impact) of shopping and of course plenty of expletives, which amuses any adult crowd.  One can’t forget though that the evening was pitched to start at exactly the same time as England kicked off against the Ukraine, so Jupp did a superb job updating the crowd of Rooney’s goal and England’s subsequent win!

Following Jupp’s appearance the crowd were greeted by Graham Parker – editor of Shopping Centre Magazine and the inspiration behind the awards.  The audience were introduced to the new improved format and the additional awards ranging from Energy efficiency – currently very high up the shopping centre agenda – to an Irish award, which was met with enthusiastic applause by all the Irish in the audience. The awards were kicked off with a customer centric focus with Westfield Derby winning Customer Service team of the year, as the team approached the stage there were smiles, hugs and kisses – one very happy team indeed.  This was followed by an array of awards listed below:

The final prize of the evening went to the property group that showcased excellence within the industry and topped all the totalled scores for the Sceptre Awards for 2012.  Scooping the big one was our very own client, Westfield!  It was a fantastic coup for the wider Westfield team and a well-deserved award for all their efforts and successes throughout the year. As you can imagine, that led to an order for further champagne and a celebration that continued into the evening with our property colleagues.

A big thanks to Shopping Centre Magazine for another fabulous event, am already looking forward to next year!!! #can’twait
